FAQ

No way! HKA is looking to make this evening a night on the town to sample an assortment of great wines and amazing food!.
The wines will be able to be paired with many of the food on hand to be a real treat for your palate!
Nope… Don’t worry… this isn't a formal event with a program where you are often pressured to give. Tax-deductible donations are always appreciated, though!
For event sponsors, there is going to be a VIP Pre-event Reception at the GSH event hall private ballroom with a chance to visit personally with the owners of international wineries as well as other dignitaries who will be present. Also, there will be a chance to sample some of the rarest and most exotic labels.
We are working to see if we can make that happen and will update as we have more information.
The simple answer is that “Mevushal” means “boiled.” There are very special kosher rules when it comes to wine because it is such a big part of Jewish celebrations. Mevushal wines can be opened and served by people who are not Jewish (so the kosher wine that you have had at major Jewish events in town is always as such.) At this event, in addition to Mevushal wines, HKA Mashgiachs are going to be on hand to open and serve non-Mevushal wines personally so that you can have a Holy experience! :)
Yes! There will be several representatives from wineries across the world. We will start announcing more information very soon!
There is plenty of on-site parking once you arrive. There will not be valet parking so that we can keep our costs low.
Come as you like… it’s a night out! We are only suggesting “Dressy Casual” as a frame of reference.
This goal of the event is not looking to make you a kosher-observant Jew. What we are hoping to do is build an appreciation of the work that HKA does and the fact that kosher wines and foods are not limited to the old orange and green boxes we might have seen around our “Bubbies” homes for certain holidays.

As Houston continues to become one of the fastest growing Orthoox communities in the country, more restaurants, kosher markets, and items at our local grocery stores are going to continue to pop up, and the demand for HKA certification is going to be needed. This is why we are holding this event… as a celebration of Houston’s Jewish growth. Visit www.kosherhouston.org to learn more.
